Orientation

Please note: Our program is in very high demand and our Minneapolis locations are FULL for the remainder of the year (no additional orientations will be scheduled).

We’re limited by the # of bikes, # of volunteers, and # of weeks in the year + financial resources for storage, insurance, and maintenance/repairs. We don’t want folks to go through orientation but never get a chance to borrow a bike! If you’d like to be among the first to hear when we open registration for 2027 orientations, subscribe to our newsletter (bottom of our website). In the meantime, the best way to help is to donate (and encourage others to donate), buy merch (funds go to our operating costs) and/or volunteer (contact us if you want to volunteer!).

Eligibility/Program Requirements

  • Live in the same city as the library branch (so Minneapolis borrowers must live within Mpls city limits, Rochester borrowers must live within Rochester city limits, etc)
  • Age 18+.
  • Complete the 1 hour in-person orientation.
  • Sign a waiver agreeing to accept your responsibility for securely locking and caring for the bike and for any injuries that occur while you’re using our library bike(s).
  • Have a place to lock the bike (garage, indoors, fenced backyard or bike parking near your home) & commit to locking up the bike & removing the battery (to take with you) at all times you aren’t riding it. We will provide you with a lock!
  • Agree to check out & check in  your rental at the designated times (listed on the branch page for each location), fully charged, and with all accessories (charger, keys, lock, panniers, etc.).
